SAN FRANCISCO – The City of Berkeley, California has passed two resolutions attacking the United States Marine Corps, calling the Marines, “uninvited and unwelcome intruders in the city.” The Berkeley City Council voted to condemn the Marines on Tuesday night (January 29th) as part of a campaign by anti-war activists to shut down a U.S. Marine Recruiting Center located in the city of Berkeley. The votes by the Berkeley City Council were immediately condemned by Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization. “It is disgraceful that in the birthplace of the Free Speech Movement, anti-military activists would attempt to silence the same military men and women who serve this country and give their lives to protect the free speech rights of all Americans, including these ungrateful and despicable people on the Berkeley City Council,” said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward. The actions by the Berkeley City Council followed continuous protests by Code Pink and other anti-military organizations that vandalized and defaced the U.S. Marine Recruiting Center in September 2007. One of the two resolutions passed by the Berkeley City Council last night granted a parking spot in front of the Marine Recruiting Center to be used by anti-military activists to harass Marine recruiters. The anti-military activists would not need to apply for a sound permit for the next six months – allowing them free reign to disrupt the day-to-day operations by the Marines. Move America Forward organized a counter-protest in support of the Marines last October that attracted over 400 pro-troop supporters who stood in solidarity of the Marine Recruiting Center. “We have hundreds of thousands of military men and women serving honorably overseas to protect our freedoms. Here's the raw story of a brutal death that could have been prevented.
In a recreational area near Andrade, California, where people go to ride dune buggies, a brown
Hummer suddenly roared into the campground, jeopardizing the lives of men, women, and children.
As the L.A. Times put it: "The man at the wheel, a suspected drug smuggler, was heading to
Mexico, fast."
Aguilar, quick and brave, grabbed a spike strip and threw it in front of the Hummer.
The driver sped up and went after Aguilar. As one witness put it, "It looked like the man
swerved and hit the agent intentionally."
Of COURSE he did!
And why not? According to regulations, Border Patrol agents aren't allowed to PURSUE illegal
aliens. And if agents use their guns, a U.S. Attorney will make certain they end up serving an 11 or
12-year sentence....

Indeed, there seem to be many busybodies who believe the village, i.e., government functionaries, should make major decisions about the upbringing of children, including what they are taught and how they are medicated. They may approach this incrementally, but their goal is always "universal."
We thought it was outrageous when the Ninth Circuit proclaimed in the Palmdale case in 2005 that the fundamental right of parents over the upbringing of their children "does not extend beyond the threshold of the school door." Now the Hillary-style liberals are also acting as though parents' rights over their own children do not extend beyond the threshold of the local health clinic.
Massachusetts has just started to require that all children in Medicaid (460,000 kids) must be subjected annually to mental health screening in order to detect signs of possible mental illness, autism, or depression. One of the criteria on the questionnaire used to identify mental health problems is that the child is "seeming to have less fun." Neither have I. When it comes to securing our border the left-wing press -- and our elected officials in Washington -- sees no evil, hears no evil, and speaks no evil.
Recently, however, Judicial Watch obtained a government report that documents not one, not two but HUNDREDS OF INCURSIONS BY ARMED MEXICAN SOLDIERS AND MEXICAN POLICE.
Here are some excerpts from this report, describing specific incidents:
"As the boat proceeded to go down river towards the scene, the [U.S. Border Patrol] Agent on board advised via radio that several Mexican soldiers were pointing their rifles in his direction. The Agent decided for his safety and the safety of the crew to turn back, but advised that the soldiers were still aiming at them."
Invaders aimed their guns AT AMERICAN BORDER PATROL AGENTS ON AMERICAN SOIL -- knowing that U.S. agents aren't allowed to pursue them. At other times, they actually fired on Americans.
"[Troopers] attempted to apprehend three vehicles believed to be smuggling contraband on I-10 . As the vehicles approached the border, [troopers] stated that a Mexican Military Humvee armed with a .50 caliber weapon and several soldiers were seen assisting smugglers return to Mexico. Officers then noticed several armed subjects dressed in fatigue type clothing unload the contraband into the Humvee."
Like virtually all third-world countries, Mexico has always been run by corrupt politicians, a rogue army, and dirty cops. It's a cauldron of poverty, lawlessness, and corruption.
"This boat, which appeared to be a Mexican Military boat, was providing security and escort for the two others that were later found to be transporting 2,716.53 pounds of Marijuana."

I normally will not indulge myself by bowing to the temptation to climb into the ditch with far-left liberals on a personal basis, but sometimes there must be an exception to the rule. This letter is a cleaned up version directed at a local left-wingnut, who repeatedly attacks our military, and those who serve, through the “Guest Opinion” section of our local newspaper. From this point on I will simply refer to him as Mr. Lefty. I would like to begin with a few generalizations followed by specifics. It is well known that the far-left has created despise for our military system, and its members, that has been allowed to enter the mainstream of the Democratic Party. Have you ever noticed how the far-left starts a paragraph when referring to the military? “While honoring the service of---I must disagree with”.
My friends, that is just another cheap shot. The far-left honors nothing that the military does, or has done. I hold that type comment in total contempt.
The following points that I will try and make are not from a book, newspaper or magazine. They are life lessons that I have personally observed over a long period of time, and I can honestly say to you that all my adult life has been devoted to serving this great nation.
First, let me say that in my 35+ years of military service, taken in total, the most well educated, common sensed and patriotic group of Americans that I have observed came from our US Military. [Whereas] John Kerry [along with like-minded leftists] is truly a foolish man.
To become an Officer in the US Air Force required a college degree, and to even be considered to command a Fighter Squadron required a Masters Degree. Most Colonels and all Generals in the US Air Force have attended three Military Service Schools, and War College.
From the beginning, a key point made over-and-over to all emphasizes the importance of civilian control over the military. That is the major difference between the United States and the dictator infested, third world countries in South America who experience a military coup every year or so. No one supports this concept more than our senior military, so the US Military leadership does not need the likes of Lefty to talk down to them about their obligation to service.
Second, no one dislikes the idea of going to war more than the soldier. He is the guy being shot at. I have never met a senior military officer who actually wanted to employ force. It is the military’s job to tell congress what the cost is to carry out their mandate, budget for the mandate, then carry out that mandate when the President so orders---nothing more. Lefty’s comment concerning “the natural tendency of military leaders to rely almost exclusively on the projection of force” borders on the insane.
Third, Big Military, defined by lefty as “those who Lord over us and defy any democratic reform whatsoever”, are you, me and our kids who serve and have served. Who does he think runs the Pentagon? It is the great guys and girls that you and I raised, educated, and saw leave the nest to go out and make the world a better place. It is the same young people who fight and sometimes die giving the far-left the opportunity to come back and impugn their integrity with cheap articles like his without loosing his head.
Fourth, our military is doing a great job in Iraq. Even hard core liberal journalists are taunting the success of the surge. Lefty’s comment that “they have completely failed to dismantle the nerve center of radical jihad” is absurd. Does he even understand what a nerve center is? I think not, because there is none in this instance.
The key to solving the Middle-East issue is Iran. Iran with a nuke is not the answer. But they, Mr. Lefty and his far-left cohorts, probably can fix that problem by simply talking to the Iranian leaders. I’m sure they will understand and stop training, equipping and providing explosive devices to the insurgents that slip through Syria bent on killing those awful GIs who make up the awful US combat forces. And, with their persuasive Democratic personalities, I am sure they will persuade Iran to give up their quest for the nuke, embrace Israel, and have Hamas give back the West Bank. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!
Fifth, while on active duty, I served under Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush. Without doubt, the most asinine statement Lefty made in this article was ‘This bunch of Republicans has done more to harm our military than any Democratic Congress, or President, in history”.
Lyndon Johnson put 500,000 troops in Vietnam, tied both hands behind their backs and refused to let them fight the war. I know. I was there flying F-4s when Johnson and McNamara were picking targets from the White House, and we were not allowed to hit Mig Aircraft until they were airborne. The Army was put in defensive enclaves, and Generals were replaced for going too far in protecting their resources.
I was there as a F-15 Squadron Commander when Jimmy Carter cut spare parts procurement for all military systems to include the new F-15 fighter, and less than 33% of the birds were flyable any given day.
I was there as an F-16 Wing Commander when Ronald Reagan fixed the parts problem and over 85% of our birds were flyable every day. And, I observed with dismay as pardoned felon, Bill Clinton cut the military to the point that we are suffering 15 month tours for our Army personnel in Iraq today.
Mr. Lefty, how can you make such absurd statements? As military people and leaders, we all suffered when the Democrats were in control, and we hung in there until finally a Republican came along and fixed it. Anyone who thinks that the Democratic Party cares more for this country's military people than the Republicans is a hardcore fool!!!
Sixth, the question, “can a Democratic government afford to wait another 500 days” is very interesting. I know the far-left hates George Bush, but is possible that Lefty is advocating overthrow of the US Government? Obviously, although at times misguided, the President has done nothing even approaching a level deserving Impeachment, as Bill Clinton did. I can see no other meaning to that statement.
Seventh (and finally), my friends, this article is a classic example of the American People being bam-boozled by the far-left into thinking that there is no Islamic threat, we can talk to them and make friends, and we need to get out of Iraq. What is happening in the world right now is far bigger than just Iraq, and only our military stands between maintaining the American way of life and its total destruction.
It does not bother me at all to be belittled by the far-left personally. In fact, I enjoy knowing that I have succeeded in some small way. However, to Mr. Lefty and his ilk, I think I can safely say---Your timing is very bad. The American People are a smart lot. They can see through the far-left and their socialist leanings, and THEY LOVE THEIR MILITARY PEOPLE. Their military is family.
The Democratic Party will pay a high price in the long run for degrading our men and woman in uniform once again, as they did in Vietnam. America is tired of the war, but they will never tire of the patriotism shown by our military, both its leadership and its warriors.

Observations of background info not broadcast by the media. The following written by Dick Morris ... a Democrat and speech writer for Bill Clinton who knows the Clintons very well. Polls suggest that the leading attribute attracting voters to Hillary's presidential candidacy is her "experience," a virtue which contrasts, presumably, with the lack of it in Senator Barack Obama, her chief rival. But a close examination of her record as first lady and as New York Senator suggests that her experience is largely in the avoidance of death by scandal. Were it to be captured in a television series, it would certainly not rise to the level of "Commander In Chief" and probably not even to that of "West Wing." It would find its televised metaphor in the reality series "Survivor." Consider what her experience has been. She burst forth on the national stage with two tasks in her husband's administration: The selection of the nation's first female Attorney General and the design and adoption of a comprehensive program of health care reform. Her efforts to designate an Attorney General hamstrung the new Administration for months as two nominees, in succession, had to withdraw their names from consideration. Finally, at the eleventh hour, she urged her husband to appoint Florida's Janet Reno, a selection Bill Clinton would come to describe as "my worst mistake." In the bargain, she suggested the appointment of Lani Guinier as head of the civil rights division, a job she was shortly forced to relinquish when her radical views became known, another embarrassment for the new Administration. Her other selections for the Justice Department, the White House staff and the Treasury were her three law partners: Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy, appointments which culminated in one imprisonment, one suicide, and one forced resignation.
Her other assignment, health care reform, collapsed in such a debacle that it cost her party control of both houses of Congress, a fate from which it took twelve years to recover.
Beyond these initial tasks, her main focus in the Administration was scandal defense. From Jennifer Flowers to Whitewater to the FBI file affair to the travel office firings to her
Commodities Market winnings to the missing Rose Law Firm billing records to the Paula Jones scandal, she orchestrated the Administration's defense against scandal allegations. In the process, she almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice.
And her advice in handling these matters was uniformly bad. It was Hillary who counseled Bill not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit even when the plaintiffs called for neither an apology nor payment and she who stonewalled the release of Whitewater documents even when it led to the appointment of a special prosecutor. When the prosecutor whose appointment she had caused heard about the depositions in the Paula Jones case she had refused to settle, the Monica Lewinsky scandal eventuated. During the period of 1995-1997, the period of the Clinton Administration's greatest achievements, she was nowhere to be seen, focusing instead on writing It Takes A Village, and on dodging criminal inquiry. She did not participate in the formulation of a balanced budget, nor in welfare reform legislation, nor in the reduction of crime that stemmed from the 1994 anti-crime bill. Her experience continued when her race for the Senate and its aftermath became, in turn, mired in scandal. The pardon of the FALN terrorists to get Latino support in New York, that of the New Square Hassidim to get Hillary Jewish support, and the clemency shown toward Hillary's brothers' clients to get them financial support caused her ratings to plunge to their lowest level in March of 2001 as she took her Senate seat. The theft of White House gifts, almost $200,000 of which had to be returned, did nothing to endear her to the electorate. Since then, Hillary has done nothing of note in the Senate except to vote for the Iraq War, a position she has since disavowed, and to win the applause of her colleagues for not being partisan and obstinate. Her main efforts have been directed at raising massive sums of money for herself and her colleagues and making a lot writing and selling her memoirs. Her efforts on behalf of New York after 9-11 have been exposed as largely derivative of those of her colleague, the more effective Chuck Schumer.
She has passed no important legislation, except for twenty bills renaming post offices and courthouses and congratulating Alexander Hamilton, Shirley Chisolm, Harriet Tubman, the American Republic, and the Syracuse men's and women's Lacrosse team on their respective accomplishments. In a style reminiscent of the vehicle born incendiary explosive devices (VBIED) used in Iraq and by terrorists worldwide, two Mercedes were found in London this weekend packed with gasoline, gas canisters and nails. The bombs were to be exploded using cell phones as remote detonators, another favorite tactic of those terrorists who do not wish to die themselves. Had the plan been successful, potentially hundreds of innocent civilians would have been brutally murdered either by the explosions or by the deadly projectiles that the nails would have become. London was saved by alert citizens who noticed something was amiss and took swift action.
The United States, because of lax border security and an inability to enforce its own immigration laws, will be next. Over the past few months, our news has been consumed with debate on an amnesty bill that would give legal status to millions of illegal aliens who have crossed the US/Mexico border. A red-faced, shrill Ted Kennedy would have us believe that these illegals are all here to pick lettuce. President Bush, who was adamant after September 11, 2001, that he would do all he could do to keep Americans safe, attempted to feed the American public the same false bill of goods.
With the focus on the senorita cleaning motel rooms or the senor waiting outside Home Depot for a day labor job, Washington has forgotten that we are at war. We are at war with a sly, evasive enemy who preys on our unwillingness to secure our homeland. It should come as no surprise that the enemy is among us, waiting to strike. You have been warned.
On October 19, 2001, J. Zane Walley reported for World Net Daily “Arabs have been reported crossing the Arizona border for an unknown period. Border rancher George Morgan encounters thousands of illegals crossing his ranch on a well-used trail. He relates a holiday event: ‘It was Thanksgiving 1998, and I stepped outside my house and there were over a hundred 'crossers' in my yard. Damnedest bunch of illegals I ever saw. All of them were wearing black pants, white shirts and string ties. Maybe they were hoping to blend in,’ he chuckled. ‘They took off, I called the Border Patrol, and a while later, an agent, Dan Green, let me know that they had caught them. He said that they were all Iranians.’
“According to Border Patrol spokesperson Rob Daniels, ‘Ten Egyptians were arrested recently near Douglas, Arizona. Each had paid $7,000 to be brought from Guatemala into Mexico and then across the border.’
“According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, hours after the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, an anonymous caller led Mexican immigration agents to 41 undocumented Iraqis waiting to cross into the United States.“
On March 22, 2005, The Christian Science Monitor reported, “in a Feb. 16 Senate hearing, Mr. Mueller cited the case of Mahmoud Youssef Kourani, who paid to be smuggled across the US-Mexico border in 2001. He pleaded guilty on March 1 to providing material support to Hezbollah and was sentenced to no more than five years in prison.”
“The most recent sign, though, that terrorists may be thinking of entering the US from the south came from the mastermind of many of the terror attacks in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Last week, US officials revealed that Mr. Zarqawi may be planning to broaden his campaign to include strikes in the US - and suggested it would be easy to infiltrate the US through the southern border.”
On December 4, 2006, the editors of Family Security Matters did an extensive expose, “Border Security, Terrorism and You”, on the terrorist threat from our southern border. In a comprehensive list of reports of terrorist threats to our country through the porous Mexican border, FSM reports that in 2005, “at least 850 people from countries of “special interest” were apprehended crossing the southern border. How many more successfully crossed is unknown.”
On December 29, 2006, we wrote an article for GreatMindsThinkRight titled “Bolo – Adnan el Shukrijumah”. On the FBI’s Most Wanted List, Shukrijumah’s extended stay in Mexico in 2004 raised some concern. Known for his desire to smuggle nuclear weapons into the United States to facilitate his “American Hiroshima”, the Mexican border provides a welcome mat for his comrades to execute his dastardly plans. Shukrijumah was also the subject of Adrian Morgan’s “The Islamists Nuclear Threat to America”, published on Family Security Matters (June 20, 2007). Morgan lays out the threat to our nation that should shock every American into the war footing needed to fight the enemy on all fronts – in the Middle East and most importantly, here at home.
And Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV), as well as others in our government - “leaders” who were elected to protect us - want you to think that illegal immigrants only want to “do the jobs Americans won’t do.” Senator Reid and his clueless colleagues have forgotten to add to the list the illegal immigrants “who will do the terrorist bombings Americans won’t do.” With very good reason, common-sense Americans care far more about the latter than the former.
On June 2007, a plot to blow up the pipelines leading to New York’s JFK Airport was thwarted and the perpetrators arrested. According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, “The plot was hatched in January 2006 in New York and involved Muslim extremists from Guyana and Trinidad. It was broken up while still in the planning stages with the aid of an informant” and involved a former Evergreen airlines worker.
Three of the infamous “Fort Dix Six”, who hatched a plot to attack Fort Dix, New Jersey, and kill American soldiers, entered the United States illegally through Mexico and, according to World Net Daily, “the three illegal aliens in the group – who came across the Mexican border – were pulled over a total of 19 times by local police for traffic violations but never reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of sanctuary policies.”
Ours is a country in denial – a denial underscored by ill-informed politicians in Washington, the mainstream media and by average citizens who refuse to acknowledge the fact that we are at war. Since the war’s inception, “human rights activists” and other far left groups have demanded civil court trials for the enemy caught on the battlefield and sent to Guantanamo Bay. The civilian population can accept criminal acts – a daily occurrence that is handled admirably by our law enforcement and legal system. Unlike war, this does not disrupt their lives. But by admitting the obvious - that insurgents live and work alongside us – that would force them to make difficult decisions for which our politically correct society has not prepared them. In fact, worse than that, Washington will not build the fence on the US/Mexican border. They will not send armed soldiers to guard the borders, and they imprison Border Patrol agents for protecting this country from drug smugglers.
With this eery and inexplicable denial all around us, Americans must be vigilant just like the heroes who thwarted the bombings in London this weekend. We must get on a much-needed wartime footing and realize the war is already here. The truck bombs are here. The car bombs are here. The enemy is here. Are you ready to do your part?

This is not fair.
That is the view of Ward Connerly of the Sacramento-based American Civil Rights Institute, a veteran of battles against racial preferences in California, Washington and Michigan, and who believes that "race and ethnic preferences ought to be wrong under any circumstances." The current immigration measure, Connerly believes, would constitute a massive endowment of such preferences.
"This is huge," Connerly told Frontpage. "All this talk of going to the back of the line is B.S.. They would go to the front of the line. The minute they are Americans, they move in front of white males and in some cases white women." Legalized Hispanic immigrants, Connerly says, would also gain privileges over immigrants from nations such as Russia because they would be part of an officially sanctioned “underrepresented minority.”
"We have to somehow make the American public aware of this. We are, right now, the Paul Revere on this. There is a problem here."
The problem, according to Connerly, lies in "the nexus between illegal immigration and preferences." That issue had not been part of the immigration debate until last Friday, when Connerly published an open letter in the Washington Times, signed by various individuals, some of whom disagree with him on immigration policy per se. Signatories include Grover Norquist, Linda Chavez, and civil-rights advocate Joe Hicks.
"This is one of those things that people have not thought through." Connerly said. "A group that has never had the historic discrimination of blacks would be given the status of an underrepresented minority in this country."

The remaining states should follow their lead! Oklahoma's Governor Brad Henry has signed a sweeping immigration reform bill, House Bill 1804, that its sponsor believes will go a long way in dealing with the illegal alien problem in the state.
House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The measure's sponsor, State Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegals; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.
Oklahoma is no longer "O.K." for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. "When you put everything together in context," he contends, "the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won't stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they're deported. And that's exactly what House Bill 1804 does."
The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb the illegal immigration problem in the state.
"I would remind people that states are separate sovereigns in our federal system," Terrill points out. "Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to go back and take an American federal government class in college," he says.
As a result of that sovereignty, the Oklahoma lawmaker insists, "we have as much right - in fact, I would argue, a responsibility - to protect our taxpayers against that sort of egregious waste, fraud and abuse as the federal government should have a responsibility to protect that international border, but doesn't do it."
Terrill says as long as the federal government refuses to do its job of protecting the international borders of the United States, states like Oklahoma must take action to deal with the problem that is costing taxpayers in the state $200 million a year in public benefits, law enforcement costs, and other resources. Terrorists Use Mexico to Enter U.S.
Jim Meyers Tuesday, June 5, 2007 Counterterrorism authorities have come to fear that the porous U.S.-Mexico border provides entry into the United States, not only for illegal aliens, but for Islamic terrorists as well.
And these same Islamic terrorists may also be using Mexico as the conduit to bring nuclear devices into the U.S. for a WMD attack.
These are among the chilling disclosure from Paul L. Williams, author of the just-released book "The Day of Islam: The Annihilation of America and the Western World."
According to Williams, al-Qaida has already hatched plans to smuggle nuclear materials across the Mexican border and use them for a mammoth simultaneous attack on several large U.S. cities.
Al-Qaida and other terrorist groups began infiltrating Mexico in the days after 9/11. By 2003, Canadian intelligence officials and Interpol told Mexican President Vincente Fox that al-Qaida had established several cells in Mexico to prepare for the next terrorist attacks,
Williams tells readers.
Meanwhile hundreds of Tzozil Indians in southern Mexico converted to Islam and reportedly became involved in subversive activities. By 2004, al-Qaida cells were in place in northern Mexico and a large cell of Hezbollah was in Tijuana, on the U.S. border of California.
The Muslim radicals enlisted the aid of Latino gangs, including Mara Salvatrucha, to help them slip across the border. According to Williams, the going rate for such service was from $30,000 to $50,000, but it included a bogus matricular consular, an official ID card issued by the Mexican government that enables Mexican nationals in the U.S. to obtain drivers licenses and open bank accounts.
Steve McCraw, assistant director of the FBI's Office of Intelligence, told the House Judiciary
Committee in June 2003: "The ability of foreign nationals to use the matricular consular provides an opportunity for terrorists to move freely within the United States without triggering name-based watch lists that are disseminated to local police officials."
Mexico has also become a conduit for aliens from terror-sponsoring states, known as
"special-interest aliens," or SIAs. By 2006, a popular entry route from Mexico into Arizona was littered with "discarded Muslim prayer rugs, pages from the Quran, instructions in Arabic on how to cross the Rio Grande, and beverage boxes with Farsi and Arabic letters," writes Williams, a seasoned investigative reporter and former FBI consultant.
Due to a lack of detention facilities, those SIAs that are apprehended — who have numbered in the thousands in recent years — are released from custody after receiving hearing dates from immigration judges. Fewer than 5 percent actually show up for their hearing. The rest simply vanish.
Texas Rep. Solomon Ortiz, a Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Readiness, said the release of Middle Easterners with possible links to al-Qaida is "very, very scary and members of Congress know about this."
In April 2004, the FBI arrested al-Qaida operative Mohammed Junaid Babar, after he returned to New York City from a terrorist summit meeting in Pakistan. He told interrogators that al-Qaida was preparing a nuclear attack on American cities. He also said the terrorists were relying on Latino gangs, most notably Mara Salvatrucha, to transport the operatives, along with nuclear supplies, across the U.S.-Mexican border.
Another captured terrorist later confirmed Babar's account. And both men said the plot was being directed by Adnan el-Shukrijumah, the man profiled in a NewsMax story last week — whom Williams calls "the most dangerous person in the Western world."

June 07 The Traitorous U.S. SenateSen. Sessions Releases List of 20 Loopholes in the Senate Immigration Bill
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) released a list of 20 loopholes in the
comprehensive immigration bill today which reveals that the bill is fatally flawed and will not establish a functioning immigration system in the future.
The list of loopholes includes flaws effecting border security, chain-migration and
assimilation policies. The list exposes the lack of serious attention given to ensuring that the legislation fixes America’s failed immigration system.
“I am deeply concerned about the numerous loopholes we have found in this legislation. They are more than technical errors, but rather symptoms of a fundamentally flawed piece of legislation that stands no chance of actually fixing our broken immigration system,” Sessions said.
“Many of the loopholes are indicative of a desire not to have the system work.”
Is anyone surprised at this? This is more evidence that the folks in Washington on both sides of the aisle are willing to sacrifice this country to increase their political power. column to move on to other things in his life. This is his final column for the enterprise.]
I have been doing this column for so long that I cannot even recall when I started. I loved writing this column so much
for so long I came to believe it would never end.
It worked well for a long time, but gradually, my changing as a person and the world's change have overtaken it. On a
small scale, Morton's, while better than ever, no longer attracts as many stars as it used to. It still brings in the rich
people in droves and definitely some stars.
I saw Samuel L. Jackson there a few days ago, and we had a nice visit, and right before that, I saw and had a splendid talk with Warren Beatty in an elevator, in which we agreed that "Splendor in the Grass" was a super movie. But Morton's is not the star galaxy it once was, though it probably will be again.
Beyond that, a bigger change has happened. I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important. They are uniformly
pleasant, friendly people, and they treat me better than I deserve to be treated. But a man or woman who makes a huge wage
for memorizing lines and reciting them in front of a camera is no longer my idea of a shining star we should all look up
to.
How can a man or woman who makes an eight-figure wage and lives in insane luxury really be a star in today's world, if by
a "star" we mean someone bright and powerful and attractive as a role model? Real stars are not riding around in the backs
of limousines or in Porsches or getting trained in yoga or Pilates and eating only raw fruit while they have Vietnamese
girls do their nails.
They can be interesting, nice people, but they are not heroes to me any longer.
A real star is the soldier of the 4th Infantry Division who poked his head into a hole on a farm near Tikrit, Iraq.
He could have been met by a bomb or a hail of AK-47 bullets. Instead, he faced an abject Saddam Hussein and
the gratitude of all of the decent people of the world.
A real star is the U.S. soldier who was sent to disarm a bomb next to a road north of Baghdad. He approached it, and the
bomb went off and killed him.
A real star, the kind who haunts my memory night and day, is the U.S. soldier in Baghdad who saw a little girl playing
with a piece of unexploded ordnance on a street near where he was guarding a station. He pushed her aside and threw
himself on it just as it exploded. He left a family desolate in California and a little girl alive in Baghdad.
The stars who deserve media attention are not the ones who have lavish weddings on TV but the ones who patrol the streets
of Mosul even after two of their buddies were murdered and their bodies battered and stripped for the sin of trying to
protect Iraqis from terrorists.
We put couples with incomes of $100 million a year on the covers of our magazines. The noncoms and officers who barely
scrape by on military pay but stand on guard in Afghanistan and Iraq and on ships and in submarines and near the Arctic
Circle are anonymous as they live and die.
I am no longer comfortable being a part of the system that has such poor values, and I do not want to perpetuate those
values by pretending that who is eating at Morton's is a big subject.
There are plenty of other stars in the American firmament ... the policemen and women who go off on patrol in South
Central and have no idea if they will return alive; the orderlies and paramedics who bring in people who have been in
terrible accidents and prepare them for surgery; the teachers and nurses who throw their whole spirits into caring for
autistic children; the kind men and women who work in hospices and in cancer wards.
Think of each and every fireman who was running up the stairs at the World Trade Center as the towers began to collapse.
Now you have my idea of a real hero. I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters.
This is my highest and best use as a human.
I can put it another way. Years ago, I realized I could never be as great an actor as Olivier or as good a comic as Steve
Martin ... or Martin Mull or Fred Willard - or as good an economist as Samuelson or Friedman or as good a writer as
Fitzgerald. Or even remotely close to any of them.
But I could be a devoted father to my son, husband to my wife and, above all, a good son to the parents who had done so
much for me. This came to be my main task in life.
I did it moderately well with my son, pretty well with my wife and well indeed with my parents (with my sister's help).
I cared for and paid attention to them in their declining years. I stayed with my father as he got sick, went into
extremis and then into a coma and then entered immortality with my sister and me reading him the Psalms.
This was the only point at which my life touched the lives of the soldiers in Iraq or the firefighters in New York.
I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters and that it is my duty, in return for the
lavish life God has devolved upon me, to help others He has placed in my path. This is my highest and best use as a human.
Faith is not believing that God can. It is knowing that God will.
